The Old Flight operations building gets removed...and this is now the Bunkhouse for visitors and has been moved to the woods on the south ridge behind the hangers.

Jantar 2

Big Bird transport wagon.jpg (189503 bytes)
arrival....Early in 2002 a Jantar II (open Jantar, 20.5 meter) was purchased in a partnership between Airport owner, Bill Holder and Tim Mara

so bright I can see myself.jpg (257474 bytes) Jantar 2 assembled.jpg (251309 bytes)
After getting the new airworthiness certificate, replacing the instruments, adding a new radio and some initial clean up it was delivered to the airport and with the help of several friends finally assembled. While waiting for the new trailer to arrive it was left assembled and stored in the hanger.....a big hanger :-)
the first impression was, "it aint gonna fit in there" but of course it did

and finally it's time to see how it flys.........In we go
Head first......no, this is NOT the Brokenstraw Bald Eagle!

Bald Eagle.......er...make that Tim.jpg (169495 bytes)
and time to launch.....
start.jpg (181488 bytes)

Big aint it?
At nearly a 70 foot wingspan the Jantar is a big glider, but also even today a pretty good performer at a near 50/1 glide ratio but still a pretty straight forward design that is quite docile and easy to fly
even high it's BIG.jpg (54600 bytes)
