Labor Day weekend get-together 2002
We started out with a pilots meeting

Some folks don't like to leave home so they bring their homes with them!
as did Frank and Mary Ann Karas from Sicklerville, New Jersey

soon after the airport was full of gliders being assembled,

tow planes pulled from the hangers and anticipation.
Several 304CZ owners were present
here, Chuck Zabinski from Rochester, NY, "1M" with Bud Bauder from Kitnersville,
PA
followed by Glenn Holden from Fort Mill, SC move the the start position.
Tim's "1M" 304C ser# 45 was there
(here shown with Bud Bauder at the controls)
all the way from South Carolina
Glenn Holden showed up after winning his first Standard Class contest day at
Caesar's Creek with his 304C ser# 38
Some came from as far away as Seattle Washington!
Here Pierre Parent From Seattle checks out Tim's 304C with Chuck Zabinski
(Pierre owns 304CZ ser# 32)
In the background Ron Sutton from Asbury, NJ with 304C Ser#52

First off the ground was Ron Sutton's 304C "QR"

Chuck Zabinski from Rochester NY

It wasn't long before the day started to develop into one "TERRIFIC" soaring day
with
cloud bases at 6,500', 4-5 knot thermals and cloud streets in all directions
Soon they were all off and gone for the day......many hundreds of miles were covered
Glenn Holden too this shot of Chuck's 304CZ-17 "somewhere" out west...
once at cloud base (6500' MSL) there was little need for thermaling, just pick a cloud
street and go....
With Bud flying "1M" Tim got the Janitor 2 out and went looking for the pack
As the day comes to an end it was finally time to come down........everyone had a great
time in
some wonderful soaring conditions and had plenty of stories to tell.
Soaring from Brokenstraw was a big hit with our visitors....great conditions, scenic
countryside and local hospitality make this a wonderful new site.
Sunday was the annual picnic and Pig Roast

there was a great turnout for Sunday's event....Plenty of good food (sorry Porky) and
after some early over-development the sky again broke and brought good soaring conditions.
K7 from the neighboring "Aero Soaring Club"
Finally.....there comes a time when everyone has to head for home.....
Monday with almost all of the visitors gone the club fleets got lined up for a more
"vintage" day of soaring...."Brokenstraw style"
the conditions were again not up to those we found on Saturday but still
"Soarable"
for those who were still here
This is the line up of several gliders from the locals

Including from Left: K8, Bergfalke III, K8, Ka6, the BSC K7, Aero Soaring Club's K7 and
