Some time ago first consumer GPS devices with built in logger were introduced. Because of the lower price they were interesting alternative to IGC certified (purpose built) flight recorders. After few short tests Uros at FlyWithCE decided to convert one of them to flight recorder. Then long process of the development started. The main goal was to keep it simple and because of that design changed few times. Device manufacturer also helped us by updating GPS firmware so that device would fit flight recorder requirements as close as possible. After almost two years of work and testing here is small and interesting device with easy to use software designed and produced exclusively by FlyWithCE.

FlyWithCE Flight Recorder advantages
 Simple to use :With only one ON/OFF switch flyWithCE recorder is extremely easy to use. Few minutes before flight just turn on the device and when valid GPS position is detected Flight Recorder will start logging positions.
Small size: It is one of the smallest and lightest flight recorders on the market. With size of  70 mm x 37 mm x 24 mm can easily fit in your pocket.
Power independent :It is powered by two AAA size batteries or rechargeable batteries and will run for more than 8 hours on 1000 mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries. With internal battery you will not be dependent on planes power supply.
Memory size :Flight Recorder can record more than 100 hours with 1 second interval rate (or 1200 hours with 12 second interval rate).
Software :Together with Flight Recorder you will also receive flyWithCE Logbook program, with which you will be able to download and view recorded flights.
Secure recorder :flyWithCE Flight Recorder will record signed flights that can be used for competitions like OLC (on-line championship).

Device is perfect if you are searching for a simple self powered flight recorder that can be easily carried with you. It will record A LOT of flying hours and with use of IGC analysis software you will be able to check your flights and improve your flying.
flyWithCE Flight Recorder limitations
To keep the cost low consumer GPS logging device was used. In cooperation with device manufacturer the devices firmware was updated so that it would fit best glider pilot requirements. On the other hand consumer device has some limitations. Device is not IGC certified and recorded flights cannot be used for claiming badges or national/world records. Device does not have engine sensor or pressure altitude sensor

"Erixx" Flight Recorder

"ERIXX" is our new smart Flight Recorder. Its tiny dimensions and light weight make the use very comfortable. Huge memory offers hundreds hours of recording without overwriting recent flight data and the ultra low power consumption saves your battery on board. In addition, ERIXX includes high efficiency switch-mode PDA power supply, so you won't need any external DC-DC converter and other cables anymore. Only one cable provides all required functions, powering and communication. ERIXX has been certified by International Gliding Commission. The level of approval is for all flights including world records.
