Premium Protection for Sailplane Finishes
New improved Wx/Block now features the latest nanotechnology to enhance the
gloss and longevity
of sailplane gel coat finishes.
This premium finish protection contains maximum levels of UV
protection along with gloss enhancing and anti-static surfacing agents for
gel coat . finishes. Wx/Block helps maintain a high level of sailplane gel
coat integrity by reducing the effects of environmental exposure.
Nanotechnology Improves Performance
The inclusion of nanoscale particles in Wx/Block and Wx/Seal improves
smoothing and levels the microscopic inconsistencies on gel coat
surfaces.Leveling of the surface topography results in a higher gloss and
better sealing of the micro-porosity present in all gel coat finishes. The
nanoscale formulation improves the refectivity of gel coat surfaces
resulting in increased gloss values and provides better retention of UV
active inhibition for improved performance.
Gel Coat and the Sun
Gel coat finishes are subject to chemical processes driven by exposure to
ultraviolet solar radiation ,this incudes photo-initiation and
photo-oxidation. The process of photo-initiation causes chemical changes in
a micro-thin surface layer of gel coat while photo-oxidation degrades
surface molecules.Sunlight and reactive atmospheric compounds will yellow
and embrittle gel coat over the length of exposure. While traditional hard
wax or consumer type waxes will polish gel coat, their UV protection is
limited. Wx/Block’s solution is to provide active UV protection on the
surface for an extended period of time.
Wings & Wheels made an exclusive agreement with the
manufacturers of Wx/Block
to make this great product for sailplane owners and
owners of other
*gel coated composite aircraft.
Wx/Block and Wx/Seal products are available ONLY through Wings & Wheels
This might explain why the only
people who don't recommend Wx/Block and Wx/Seal are some glider
products dealers who cannot offer it!
Used and recommend by hundreds of satisfied customers,
sailplane repair shops and gliderport operators.
* Though Wx/Block was developed to improve the
durability and life span of sailplane gelcoats it is also a terrific product to use on
other materials and finishes. Wx/Block provides UV and moisture protection not commonly
found in other waxes and polishes. |
Wx/Block and Wx/Seal are specially formulated to protect Sailplane Finishes. The
surface protection contains maximum levels of UV inhibition, along with gloss enhancing
and anti-static surfacing agents SPECIALLY designed for gel coat finishes. Wx/Block was
designed to help maintain a high level of gel coat integrity by reducing the effects of
environmental exposure. Wx/Block is completely safe for all gel coats, polyester based
finished (Prestec or Duratec) or urethane paint finishes.
The Wx/Block block system is extremely easy to apply, just wipe on and hand buff for an
outstanding gloss finish. Wx/Block is also perfect for daily clean-up and bug removal.
Wx/Block and Wx/Seal is an easy to
use 2 part system. First, Wx/Seal is applied as a surface sealing and cleaning
compound, which conditions the surface. All Gel coats contain microscopic porosity. The
Wx/Seal cleans residual dirt and wax from the surface and seals these porosity's actually
helping the Wx/Block adhere to the surface. Wx/Seal may be applied by hand or if you
prefer by machine. Finally, Wx/Block is applied by hand which contains the UV Blocking and
Anti-Static agents which help to protect the finish. These agents also produce lower
surface tension than standard waxes and reduce the severity of bug sticks and dust
accumulation.

Wx/Block or Wx/Seal .... $35.00 Per Quart
Combination Wx/Block & Wx/Seal (1 Quart each) $59.95
(combination package is enough to do two 15 meter gliders)
(Wx/Block only available in Quarts)
Wx/Block and Wx/Seal are both 100% free of Silicone

USER COMMENTS:
Not meaning this as
advertisement but I want you to know what we have observed
on a refinished LS-3A. One expects UV to attack the upper surfaces of a
glider. Normally, the upper surfaces tend to fade and "yellow" more than lower
surfaces. The owner of this LS-3 used "weather block" on the upper surfaces
only and we can see...with no doubt, that the upper surfaces are in better
condition after about 5 years. The lower (un treated) surfaces are now an
"off-white" (or yellowed slightly) while the treated upper surface is a nice
"blue-white" . You can come to any conclusion you want...but this Weather
Block" stuff does make a difference in protecting a fiberglass Gel-Coated
finish....End of advertisement...Regards, Bob

AVIATION MICROCOATING AND POLISH
Racers Edge Aviation Polish provides
the richest, deepest shine on all exterior aircraft surfaces. It is made for use on
painted, composite and all metal* surfaces as well as glass and acrylic windows. It
also meets the stringent specifications for use on commercial aircraft exteriors as
specified by Airbus, Boeing and Douglas.
Racers Edge Aviation Polish utilizes a unique blend of highly protective polymers and
Teflon® to provide maximum protection against the effects of acid rain, salt water
environments, Avgas, kerosene, exhaust residue, runway asphalt tar, reverted rubber
splay. Teflon® is used because of its unique qualities that reduce drag when
applied to aircraft exterior surfaces. UV50 sunscreen is added to the formula to
protect against the sun's damaging rays, especially from high altitude exposure.
Drag reduction contributes to fuel savings, and/or increased airspeed. This is why
the winningest air racing teams use Racers Edge Aviation Polish. The drag reducing
capability of Racers Edge has been tested by the USAF in Project 'HAVE SLICKER';
(AFFTC-TR-98-05).
The Racers Edge Aviation Polish formula is unique. Its cleaning properties, versatility
and ease of use distinguish it from all other polishes and waxes used on aircraft.
Additionally, Racers Edge Aviation Polish contains no abrasives. One application lasts up
to 6 months.
Racers Edge Premium Finish Restorer
combines space age polymers and
cleaning agents to penetrate and release
impurities to restore original color and luster.

Hard Bar (Wax?)
You may hear a lot about "Hard Waxing"
but what most don't know is that hard bar was is really not intended as a wax at all,
hard bars do contain a wax as a base but these are
really polishing compounds, the wax used is there to contain the fine
abrasives used for polishing, much the same as "Jeweler's
rouge" . Applied with a machine only, on
sailplanes a special edge buffer is used and it is still a favorite method by many
repair shops.
Machine polishing hard bars do provide excellent polishing, and
provide a high shine since
the surface is highly polished to a super smooth finish. Hard Bars however
provide little real moisture protection and will offer virtually nothing in
the way of UV protection. Each Bar should be enough for complete polishing
of one or two gliders when properly applied. The special edge type buffer is
required for
proper application of all hard bar waxes. Hard Bar Finishing should always be followed up
with a minimum of a good wax for moisture protection and for the best UV and
moisture protection with a product like or at best, the Wx/Seal and Wx/Block
products.
The best! Professional high-gloss polishing

Menzerna Compounds
made in Germany

The same residue-free compounds used at Fender,
Gibson and other top guitar manufacturers and repair shops. The
Menzerna company has been making abrasives and polishing compounds since
1888. That's one year before Gottlieb Daimler founded Daimler Motoren
Gesellschaft, the company that was to become Mercedes Benz! Today, Menzerna
is the largest supplier of polishes and compounds to Germany's automakers.
Menzerna is a family-owned company recognized as a world leader in abrasive

2L Pre-Polish Compound (#1) is for initial compounding, where you remove
the scratches left by wet or dry sandpapers (it will remove 800 grit
scratches on up). This is followed by 16 Fine Polishing Compound (#2). This
will leave a mirror surface. All products can be applied by hand with a soft
cloth or buffer, after the initial flattening and leveling of the finish is
done with sandpaper. The finish should be sanded to at least 800 grit before
applying the 2L.
2L PASTE PRE-POLISH COMPOUND #1
(750 gram or 1.65 lb.) Plastic Tub $16.95
16 FINE POLISHING COMPOUND #2
(750 gram or 1.65 lb.) Plastic Tub $16.95 FYI:
Removing old tape residue

I don't offer
this since it is flammable and could be classified as "hazardous" for
shipping (extra cost to you) you can almost always find it locally at most
auto parts stores, hardware stores and paint suppliers for about ten bucks a
quart. Some companies offer their own "brand" like NAPA Auto Suppliers. This
is the BEST adhesive cleaner I have ever used for removing old tapes, tape
residue and is completely safe for almost any painted or gel-coated finish.
Buy it locally.. always keep some on hand!
